Explore the Wonders of Chicagos Museums & Iconic Cuisine
Sit back and relax as we depart from Southeast Iowa aboard your comfortable Trailways motorcoach, complete with panoramic windows, reclining seats, and a friendly, experienced driver. Enjoy the scenic winter landscapes as we make our way north to the Windy City.
Our first highlight of the day awaits along the shores of Lake Michigan The Field Museum of Natural History, one of Chicagos most beloved cultural landmarks. Step into a world of ancient civilizations, towering dinosaurs, glittering gems, and fascinating scientific discovery. Come face to face with SUE, the worlds most complete and best-preserved Tyrannosaurus rex, and marvel at Máximo, the giant titanosaur that stretches across Stanley Field Hall. From Egyptian tombs to sparkling meteorites and ancient artifacts, the Field Museum promises hands-on learning and awe for every age.
After an inspiring afternoon at the museum, well check into the inviting Holiday Inn Chicago Oakbrook, a comfortable retreat conveniently located near restaurants and shopping. Freshen up before we head out for an evening of authentic Chicago flavor.
Dinner tonight is a treat at the legendary Giordanos, home of Chicagos world-famous stuffed deep-dish pizza. Enjoy hearty slices of cheesy goodness and warm conversation as you relax after a day of exploring. This family-style dinner is a highlight in itself a true taste of the city!
After dinner, well return to the hotel for a restful nights stay. Take a dip in the pool, unwind in your cozy guest room, or simply enjoy time together before tomorrows aquatic adventure.
Day 2 Sunday, January 18, 2026
A Morning at the Shedd Aquarium & Homeward Bound
Start your morning with a delicious hot breakfast at the hotel before boarding the coach for another day of discovery. Our destination today is the spectacular Shedd Aquarium, where the wonders of the underwater world come alive.
Watch dolphins leap through the air, penguins waddle and play, and colorful tropical fish glide through coral reefs. The Shedd is home to over 32,000 animals from rivers, oceans, and lakes around the world. Wander through immersive exhibits like Amazon Rising, Caribbean Reef, and the serene Oceanarium, where kids and grandparents alike can learn, laugh, and share moments of wonder together.
After our time at the aquarium, well begin our journey home filled with memories, smiles, and stories to share. Along the way, well make comfortable rest and refresh stops before returning to your original departure location by evening.
