Settle in to your hotel room in Grand Island, NE before enjoying dinner on your own and getting a good night’s rest for the exciting day in store tomorrow!

Day 2

It’s a very early breakfast for us today as we set out to join our guide to view the Sand Hill Cranes from a viewing station in order to witness what is considered one of the continent’s greatest wildlife spectacles. Each spring, something magical happens in the heart of the Great Plains. More than 80 percent of the world’s population of Sandhill Cranes converge on the Nebraska Platte River valley. Be a witness to this magical sight, as you see and hear the cranes as they lift together and depart to dine in corn fields and wet meadows in preparation of their arduous journey to vast breeding grounds in Canada, Alaska, and Siberia.
We extend the viewing with a driving tour to give you more insight and some up close viewing of the Sandhill Cranes in the fields and wetlands along with a step-on guide providing great information on this annual, spiritual, event. A stop at the Crane Trust Nature and Visitors Center is a definite must as you learn even more about this endangered species and browse the many displays and art as well the gift shop before departing for Omaha.
Along the way, we will be stopping for lunch on your own, before arriving in Omaha at the Garden Rock Cafe in Rockbrook Village for a special treat of Irish Soda Bread and Coffee along with a performance by Irish Celtic Harpist, Kim Meyer. Here, your Irish weekend fully begins! Once we are checked into our hotel for the next 2 nights (The Doubletree Hilton Downtown Omaha), we will depart for an included traditional Irish dinner at Brazen Head Irish Restaurant. We end the evening with a great performance at the Omaha Conservatory of Music Concert Hall featuring Emmitt Cahill, a very renowned Tenor from Ireland. Enjoy a great night’s sleep in preparation of tomorrow’s adventures.
